AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION FOR THE LEEWARD ISLANDS AND BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS ISSUED BY ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES 16:24 UTC NOVEMBER 05 2024
DISCUSSION:
THE ATMOSPHERE OVER THE AREA THIS MORNING TURNED OUT TO BE MORE ON THE
SETTLED SIDE AS HIGH PRESSURE DOMINATED WEATHER CONDITIONS AND
GENERALLY SHALLOW CLOUDS WERE OBSERVED. NOTWITHSTANDING, THERE IS AN
UPPER LEVEL TROUGH DIGGING THROUGH THE LOWER LEVELS OF THE ATMOSHERIC
COLUMN AND MODELS SUGGEST THE TROUGH WILL REFLECT ALL THE WAY TO THE
850 MB LEVEL BY TOMORROW. THIS INSTABILITY COUPLED WITH SOME AVAILABLE
MOISTURE COULD TRIGGER FEW SHOWERS OVERNIGHT. REGARDING SEAS, BEGINNING TONIGHT, A GRADUAL INCREASE IN THE SEA HEIGHTS IS FORECAST AS SWELLS FROM A MID LATITUDE CYCLONE PROPAGATE INTO THE COASTLINES. THIS OUTLOOK IS IN GENERAL AGREEMENT WITH THE LATEST ISSUED FORECAST THEREFORE AN AMENDMENT IS NOT REQUIRED.
