FLASH FLOOD WARNING
ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES

THE ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR LOW LYING AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS OF ANTIGUA, BARBUDA, MONTSERRAT, ST KITTS AND NEVIS VALID UNTIL 8PM TONIGHT.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING IN LOW LYING AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS. IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE QUICKLY TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.

NOTE 6 INCHES OF FAST-MOVING WATER CAN KNOCK YOU OFF YOUR FEET AND A DEPT OF 2 FEET CAN FLOAT A SMALL CAR. nEVER TRY TO WALK, SWIM OR DRIVE THROUGH SUCH SWIFT WATER, STOP! DON'T DROWN, TURN AROUND AND GO ANOTHER WAY.

A DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE AREA IS CAUSING VERY UNSETTLED WEATHER ACROSS THE AREA AND WILL CONTINUETO DO SO FOR, AT LEAST, THE NEXT 12 HOURS.

ALREADY OVER 50 MM (2 IN)  RAIN HAS FALLEN IS SOME AREAS AND A FURTHER 25 TO 75 MM (1 TO 3 IN) ARE POSSIBLE, IN PERHAPS, LESS THAN 12 HOURS; HENCE. THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING.

THE ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE SITUATION AND WILL ISSUE UPDATES IF AND WHEN NECESSARY.

ALL INTEREST SHOULD PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO SUBSEQUENT RELEASES ISSUED BY THE ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE.
