AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
FOR THE LEEWARD ISLANDS AND BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS
ISSUED BY ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES

02:44 UTC MAY 22 2019

DISCUSSION:   SHOWER ACTIVITY ACROSS THE AREA WAS QUITE LOW TONIGHT AND OCCURRED MAINLY TO THE EAST OF THE LEEWARDS WITH A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS OVER LAND. HIGH PRESSURE WAS THE DOMINANT WEATHER FEATURE AND MOISTURE LEVELS WERE RELATIVELY LOW THEREFORE THE ATMOSPHERE AS A RESULT WAS MORE OR LESS SETTLED ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA.

GOING FORWARD, MODEL GUIDANCE SUGGESTS THAT UNSTABLE CONDITIONS TRIGGERRED BY A WEAK LOW LEVEL TROUGH COULD SEE SOME SHOWER DEPOSITS FOR THE LEEWARD ISLANDS MAINLY TOMORROW AFTERNOON. HOWEVER, SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL IS NOT ANTICIPATED. THESE CONDITIONS ARE IN GENERAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CURRENT ISSUED FORECAST
