AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
FOR THE LEEWARD ISLANDS AND BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS
ISSUED BY ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES

DISCUSSION:   THE INFUSION OF SOME MOISTURE GAVE RISE TO SPOTTY SHOWERS ON RADAR IMAGERY THIS EVENING; HOWEVER, THE ASSOCIATED CLOUDS WERE NOT DEEP AS SEEN ON EVENING IR IMAGERY. THE MOISTURE MOVED IN AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING TROUGH WHICH WAS MORE EVIDENT ON LATEST WATER VAPOR IMAGERY

FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS: A TROUGH WILL BE THE DOMINANT FEATURE AFFECTING WEATHER CONDITIONS OVER AND AROUND THE LEEWARDS AND BVI. IT IS INSTRUCTIVE TO NOTE THAT THE TROUGH IS SOMEWHAT OUT OF PHASE WITH THE UPPER PORTION LAGGING BEHIND AND BECAUSE OF THIS, ITS EFFECT WILL BE MINIMIZED. NOTWITHSTANDING, MODELS SHOW THAT THE SURFACE TO MID LEVEL FEATURE WILL MOVE OVER THE ISLANDS TOMORROW AND THIS, COUPLED WITH HIGHER DAYTIME TEMPERATURES, COULD GIVE RISE TO SPOTTY ON-AND OFF SHOWERS . THIS OUTLOOK IS IN GENERAL AGREEMENT WITH THE LATEST ISSUED FORECAST
