FLASH FLOOD ADVISORY
ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES

ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD ADVISORY FOR MINOR FLOODING IN LOW LYING AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS OF THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS VALID UNTIL 12 MID-DAY TODAY.

A FLOOD ADVISORY MEANS THAT STREAMS, CREEKS AND DRAINS MAY BE ELEVATED OR EVEN OVERFLOWING INTO STREETS, LOW LYING AND FLOOD PRONE AREAS; HOWEVER, PROPERTY DAMAGE WILL BE MINIMAL.

INCONVENIENCES CAN BE EXPECTED BUT THE FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED TO BE IMMEDIATELY LIFE THREATENING.

A TRAILING FEEDER-BAND ASSOCIATED WITH TROPICAL STORM JOSE NORTH OF THOSE ISLANDS IS CURRENTLY AFFECTING THESE ISLANDS. THIS WEATHER CONDITION IS FORECAST TO GRADUALLY MOVE WESTWARDS AND AWAY FROM THESE ISLANDS IN A FEW HOURS TIME AND A REDUCTION IN SHOWER ACTIVITY AND IMPROVEMENTS TO WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED BY THIS AFTERNOON.

ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE SITUATION. AND RESIDENTS IN THESE ISLANDS SHOULD, STAY TUNED TO LOCAL RADIO AND TV STATIONS FOR THE LATEST INFORMATION.
